What changed, and why.

Material rate, formula, source, and interface changes are recorded here so readers can judge freshness instead of guessing.

Refund results and state-specific vehicle planning

  • Added federal withholding and estimated payments to the income-tax calculator, with a projected refund or amount-owed result.
  • Published California, Texas, Florida, New York, and Pennsylvania out-the-door pages with preselected rules and official verification links.
  • Added Florida's capped local-surtax planning model and stopped treating a private sale as a dealer trade-in.
  • Added complete free-software structured data and meaningful route-level sitemap dates.

No tax knowledge required to start

  • Replaced tax-jargon inputs with facts visitors normally know: money received, purchase cost, sale proceeds, wages and expenses.
  • Added 2026 state-and-local average sales-tax presets for every US state and the District of Columbia, with transparent planning-rate labels and optional exact-rate overrides.
  • Made capital-gain basis, self-employment profit, quarterly total tax, safe-harbor selection, standard deductions and common rate choices automatic.
  • Added a consistent “No tax expertise needed” explanation to every calculator while keeping limitations beside the result.

Calculator-first tool pages

  • Moved every calculator directly below a compact tool introduction so inputs appear in the first viewport on desktop and mobile.
  • Moved methodology and trust guidance below the result while preserving source, privacy, and limitation details.
  • Made tool-page navigation stay on the current calculator and clarified that results update instantly.
  • Added calculator-visible and input-started funnel events alongside completed calculations.

Embeds, citation assets, and auditable interactions

  • Added four free iframe calculators: federal income, 1099, self-employment, and sales tax.
  • Added downloadable bracket, SE-tax flow, quarterly-payment, and official state-agency tables.
  • Added local-only input saving, result copy/print actions, event-level analytics, and formula flow diagrams.
  • Reviewed IRS 2025/2026 brackets, Publication 505, Topic 554, SSA wage-base material, and state-agency directory links.

Priority topic clusters

  • Published 12 distinct guides around federal income, 1099/self-employment, and sales-tax decisions.
  • Added worked examples, common-error checks, and stronger primary-source trails to four priority tools.

Public calculator library

  • Released the initial 12 calculators with visible formulas, assumptions, and privacy-first browser calculations.
